WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Tschaikowski St. Petersburg State Orchestra with Roman Leontiev, music director and chief conductor and Alexandre Pirojenko, piano soloist. Since its establishment in the years following World War II, the Tschaikowski St. Petersburg State Orchestra has become an ensemble with unlimited musical possibilities. The orchestra's extremely diverse repertoire includes baroque compositions by Vivaldi, Bach, Handel to contemporary compositions by Schnitke, Banshikov, and Desyatnikov to composers of the 20th century including Honegger, Poulenc, and Stravinsky. Over the past few decades, many of Russia's most legendary and distinguished soloists and conductors have worked with the orchestra allowing this talented group of musicians to achieve wide notoriety and admiration worldwide.

Fryderyk Chopin, Concerto No. 2 in F minor for Piano & Orchestra, Op. 21
Sergei Prokofiev, Symphony No. 5 in B-flat major, Op. 100
Please note: This program does not include works by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
