In La Bohème, four young artists of 19th century Paris--including star-crossed lovers Mimì and Rodolfo--live out their everyday lives amid dreams, disappointments, poverty, and misfortune. The text and music relate all this with a pleasant melodramatic tenderness with which it is easy to identify.
