500 Clown Frankenstein is a show about three bumbling actor-clowns who are trying to put on a performance of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. They run into trouble right from the start; just getting Dr. Frankenstein's laboratory table set up properly seems to be an impossible, dangerous task. Malfunctioning costumes, poor lighting, tricky language, and a fight over who will play which role are some of the obstacles that keep getting in the way of telling the story. The comic mayhem takes a dark turn when one of the clowns is forced to play the creature. The result is a horror show of an entirely different sort than you might expect. Improvisation and audience participation are featured prominently in the performance, adding spontaneity and risk--not to mention increased hilarity.
It incorporates circus arts, improvisation, physical action, and lots of audience interaction.
