A Cinderella tale, the show focuses on little Peggy Sawyer, a dewy-eyed, would-be star from middle America. She arrives on the Great White Way with a pair of tap shoes, about 40 cents and high hopes. By a series of coincidences, of the Broadway fairy tale sort, she gets a job in the chorus of a new musical and, when the leading lady is injured, gets to go on in her place. It's the chance of a lifetime! The infectious score of this tap dancing musical extravaganza includes "Shuffle Off to Buffalo," "We're in the Money," and, of course, the show-stopping "42nd Street."
