The musical follows the canonical gospels' accounts of Jesus Christ as his radical teachings are evermore embraced through his final days of life. The story is told mainly from the perspective of Judas Iscariot, the disciple alarmed by Jesus' claims of divinity whose ultimate betrayal led to the crucifixion.

Christ's final days are dramatized with emotional intensity, thought-provoking edge and explosive theatricality. Jesus' meteor-like rise in renown provides, as the title suggests, a parallel to contemporary celebrity worship.
