WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Based on Elizabeth Crane's ("You Must be Happy to Enter") collection of short stories by the same title, When the Messenger is Hot follows the life of Josie, portrayed by three different actresses as she seeks redemption and absolution through biker boys, juke box romances, and long distance calls from her dead mother. This adaptation by Laura Eason was a smash hit at Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago and New York. Seattle Shakespeare Company Artistic Director Stephanie Shine directs this funny and powerful ensemble portrayal of a single woman's inner life.
