WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Seattle Repertory Theatre's Teenspeak: The Playwriting Project presents an evening of staged readings featuring four ten minute plays written and performed by Roosevelt High School students and directed and produced by Seattle Rep staff.
Each year, Seattle Rep's Education Department works with high school students to develop short plays, which are then directed by Seattle Rep staff and Teaching Artists. This highly successful program has generated more than 50 plays in the past four years. This year's program adds four more to the roster. With a general theme of "Please Hold," all the shows deal with a variety of situations that involve waiting or, in most cases, the moments and experiences that lead up to a transformation.
This year's plays are Spilt Milk (by Elizabeth Snyder), The Outrageous Psychology of Mid-Day Soap Operas (by Hannah Hoffmeyer), Good Morning I'm the Voice in Your Head (by Nicky Davis) and The Devil's Door is Always Open (by Lillian Cantwell).
