David Henry Hwang's updated version of Flower Drum Song is set in San Francisco in the 1950s. It is a funny, moving story about the cultural conflict between traditional Chinese immigrant parents and their urban, Americanized children. The show remains true to the values and intent of the original, but hip new arrangements and orchestrations of the Rodgers and Hammerstein score, spirited choreography, and dazzling designs make this National Tour a knockout.
