Essentially a play fifty years in the making, At Home at the Zoo (formerly titled Peter and Jerry) offers a 2004 prequel to The Zoo Story, Albee's iconic 1958 story of a chance meeting at a Central Park bench. The author has combined At Home with The Zoo Story to create a single two-act play. In the new first act, we gain a glimpse into Peter's inner life, his domestic tranquility and his evident fervent desire to be left alone to read. Step by step this leads to his fateful encounter in the park.
