In November 2002, Pulitzer prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks committed to writing a play a day for the next 365 days. The world premiere of this play cycle - 365 Days / 365 Plays - is being performed as a yearlong national festival featuring simultaneous and separate performances by over 600 theaters across the country, creating the largest theater collaboration in U.S. history.

In Seattle, the event features performances by 52 different groups. The Mahogany Project kicks things off with performances at JoAnna's Soul Café (Nov. 13-19, 2006), followed by The Akropolis Performance Lab (Nov. 20-26) and Seattle Repertory Theatre (Nov. 27-Dec.3). A single evening marathon (Dec. 4) consolidates all 21 performances from the first three weeks into one sitting. For more information regarding all of the Seattle performances, click here.

In commenting on the scope of the Seattle project, Ms. Parks said, "I was blown away. The range of diversity made my heart sing [...] it is clear to me that 365 Seattle is far out and wild and wonderful, rich and strange and bursting with talent."

365 Seattle - a consortium of the Central District Forum for Arts & Ideas, The Empty Space, Seattle Repertory Theatre, and Town Hall Seattle - serves as the coordinating organization for the Seattle portion of 365 Days / 365 Plays.
