A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder starts its run tonight at 5th Avenue Theatre.

Monty Navarro is determined to inherit his family's fortune. The only problem is he's not next in line, or even the one after that. Determined to jump the line of succession, he decides to use any means necessary to achieve his goal. In the meantime, he has to keep his mistress happy (and she's after more than just love), his fiancée (who happens to be his cousin) appeased, and avoid jail. But if he can slay his way to an inheritance before tea time, it will all be worth it.

The musical has a book and lyrics by Robert L. Freedman, music and lyrics by Steven Lutvak and is directed by Darko Tresnjak with choreography by Peggy Hickey. Leading the cast are Kevin Massey as Monty Navarro, John Rapson as the eight members of the D'Ysquith family, Kristen Beth Williams as Sibella, Mary VanArsdel as Miss Shingle, and Adrienne Eller as Phoebe. Rounding out the cast is Lesley McKinnell as Miss Barley, Kristen Mengelkoch as Lady Eugenia, Christopher Behmke as Magistrate, Sarah Ellis as Swing and Dance Captain, Matt Leisy as Tom Copley, Megan Loomis as Tour Guide, and Ben Roseberry as Chief Inspector Pinckney.

The creative team includes Alexander Dodge (set design), Linda Cho (costume design), Philip S. Rosenberg (lighting design), Dan Moses Schreier (sound design), Aaron Rhyne (projections design), Brian Strumwasser (make-up design), Charles LaPointe (wig design), and Jonathan Tunick (orchestrations).

Performances will run through July 31.
