The season will begin with Turandot (August 4-18), featuring music by Giacomo Puccini, and libretto by Giuseppe Adami and Renato Simoni. Lori Phillips will play the title role, with Marcy Stonikas performing as Turandot at select performances. Asher Fisch will conduct, with stage direction by Renaud Doucet.
Next will be Ludwig van Beethoven's Fidelio (October 13-27), featuring libretto by Joseph von Sonnleithner, with revisions by Stephan Von Breuning and Georg Friedrich Trietschke. Christiane Libor leads the cast as Leonore, with Clifton Forbis as Florestan. Asher Fisch will conduct, with stage direction by Chris Alexander.
In the new year, Seattle Opera will present La Cenerentola (January 12-16), with music by Gioachino Rossini, and libretto by Jacopo Ferretti. Daniela Pini will star as Angelina, with Tamara Mumford playing the role at select performances. Giacomo Sagripanti will conduct, and Joan Font will direct.
Puccini's La Boheme, with libretto by Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica, will follow, February 23-March 9. The cast will include Elizabeth Caballero (Mimì), Francesco Demuro (Rodolfo), Norah Amsellem (Musetta), Michael Todd Simpson (Marcello), Arthur Woodley (Colline), and Andrew Garland (Schaunard). Nadine Sierra, Michael Fabiano, Jennifer Zetlan, and Keith Phares will be featured in select performancs. Carlo Montanaro will conduct, with stage direction by Tomer Zvulun.
The season will conclude with a double bill of La Voix Humaine and Suor Angelica (May 4-18). The former has music by Francis Poulenc and libretto by Jean Cocteau, and will star Nuccia Focile as Elle. The latter has music by Giacomo Puccini and libretto by Giovacchino Forzano and will feature Maria Gavrilova in the title role, and Rosalind Plowright as The Princess. Patrick Fournillier will conduct, with stage direction by Bernard Uzan.
