Theater Schmeater Announces 2010 Season

Yussef El-Guindi’s Jihad Jones and the Kalashnikov Babes will open Theater Schmeater’s 2010 season, running January 15 – February 13. Steve Cooper will direct the production.

El-Guindi’s play is dark comedy about Hollywood and the entertainment industry. The company will feature James Weidman (Julius), Zaki Abdelhamid (Ashraf), Daniel Christensen (Barry), Michelle Flowers (Peggy), and Miriah Caine Ware (Cassandra).

The creative team will include Michael Mowery (scenic design), Teri Lazzara (sound design), DodiRose Zooropa (costume design), and Dave Baldwin (lighting design).

The company has also announced the other plays that will be part of its 2010 season. They include a new installment of Rod Serling’s Twilight Zone LIVE (March 19 – April 17); An Adult Evening of Shel Silverstein; Mathew Wilkas and Mark Setlock’s look at the world of teen beauty pageants, Pageant Play; Marcy Rodenborn’s exploration of women performers in the punk era, Vestal Virgins; and An Inconvenient Squirrel, a family-friendly piece by Joseph Scrimshaw. Scheduling and casting for these productions will be announced at a later date.
