Take Me America, a new musical to Play Village Theatre

Village Theatre will present the West Coast premiere of Take Me America, a new musical, featuring
book and lyrics by Broadway veteran Bill Nabel and music by Bob Christianson. The production will play the Francis J. Gaudette Theatre (303 Front Street North, Issaquah, WA) from September 14 through October 23, and the Everett Performing Arts Center (2710 Wetmore Avenue, Everett, WA) from October 28 through November 20. Jerry Dixon will direct.

The musical is about those who seek asylum in the United States, and the people who bear the responsibility of determining their fate, and is inspired by true stories from across the globe. Aaron Finley will star in the production.

As an actor Nabel was part of the original Broadway casts of 42nd Street and Beauty and the Beast – the latter of which he was the only cast member to do the entire 13 year run. Among his other playwriting efforts is Lying to Spielberg, which is making its world premiere in Utah this month. Nabel is a recipient of a 2009 State of Connecticut Playwright Fellowship Grant and a finalist for the American Academy of Arts and Letters Richard Rodgers Prize for Take Me America.
