Jerry Manning to Be Seattle Rep’s Acting Artistic Director

Jerry Manning will be Seattle Repertory Theatre’s Acting Artistic Director following the departure of current artistic director David Esbjornson, who earlier announced that he will be not renewing his contract.

Manning has been with Seattle Rep for over eight years where he has served as Casting Director in addition to other duties. His directing credits at the company include Thom Pain (based on nothing), and he will direct Boom later this year. During Manning’s tenure as Acting Artistic Director, Braden Abraham will assume responsibilities as his principal associate in addition to those that he currently holds as Literary Manger.

A search for a permanent replacement for Esbjornson has not yet begun, and the theater notes that it is “currently evaluating its organizational model to determine the appropriate artistic and business management structure for the future.”
