Additional Shows Canceled for Catch Me If You Can Due to Family Emergency for Norbert Leo Butz

A family emergency for cast member Norbert Leo Butz has led to the cancellation of the first week of performances (July 23-26) of the musical Catch Me If You Can at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre.

As reported in The Seattle Times, the theater originally issued a statement saying that two shows (the number has since been expanded) would be canceled so that Butz can attend to an undisclosed family emergency. Since that time, the nature of the emergency has been revealed. Butz’ sister, Teresa, was murdered in her home in Seattle on Sunday evening.

Two additional performances have now been added for Tuesday, July 28 and Wednesday, July 29, both at 7:30 pm. Ticket holders for the canceled nights may exchange their tickets for another performance during the run, which is slated to end on August 16.

Catch Me If You Can, based on the 2002 Steven Spielberg film of the same name that starred Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio, is eventually aimed at Broadway.
