Theater Schmeater Announces Cast for Maria/Stuart

Theater Schmeater has announced casting for its West Coast premiere of Jason Grote’s Maria/Stuart, to run May 7-June 6, with an opening on May 8. David Gassner will direct.

Very loosely based on Friedrich Schiller’s inquiry into the torturous relationship between Elizabeth I of England and her cousin Mary Stuart of Scotland, Grote has woven an arresting new look into modern domestic America.

The cast will include Deniece Bleha as Lizzie, Macall Gordon as Sylvia, Mary Machala as Ruthie, Jaime Roberts as Hannah, Brandon Ryan as Stuart, and Lori Stein as Marnie.

The creative team will include Maridee Slater (set), Steve Cooper (lighting), M. Elizabeth Eller (sound), and Julia Evanovich (costumes).
