Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre has announced its lineup of musicals for the 2014-15 season, which will open with A Chorus Line. The 5th Avenue Theatre's staging of this Tony-winning classic, featuring a book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, a score by Marvin Hamlisch, and lyrics by Edward Kleban, will re-create Michael Bennett's original staging and Bennett and Bob Avian's original choreography. A Chorus Line will run from September 3-28.

A Tony Award-winning tuner currently running on Broadway will continue the season, when the 5th Avenue Theatre presents the Seattle premiere of Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein's Kinky Boots, which follows the friendship of a struggling shoe factory owner and a fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos. The show will play from October 7-26.

From November 25-December 31, Joseph Robinette, Benj Pasek, and Justin Paul's holiday hit A Christmas Story, The Musical will return to The 5th Avenue Theatre, where it debuted before making its way to Broadway in 2012. Based on the classic movie of the same name, the show is set in 1940s Indiana, where a bespectacled boy named Ralphie has only one wish for Christmas.

In 2015, the theater will present a new staging of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel, coproduced Spectrum Dance Theater and helmed by Bill Berry with choreography by Donald Byrd. The musical will run from February 5-March 1. Next, The 5th Avenue will celebrate its fifth collaboration with ACT – A Contemporary Theatre, presenting the off-Broadway classic Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well & Living in Paris from March 7-May 17. 5th Avenue Artistic Director David Armstrong will direct.

From April 29-May 24, The 5th will welcome its 17th new musical to its stage with the world premiere of the original musical Something Rotten! Casey Nicholaw, the Tony Award-winning director and choreographer of The Book of Mormon, The Drowsy Chaperone, and Disney's Aladdin, will direct the new comedy, with music and lyrics by Wayne Kirkpatrick and Karey Kirkpatrick and a book by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O'Farrell.

The season will close with Grease, playing from July 9-August 2. The beloved musical classic will feature all of Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey's favorite tunes, from "Greased Lightnin'" to "You're the One That I Want."
