ACT — A Contemporary Theatre has announced their 48th mainstage season, to be performed in 2013.

In a co-production with the 5th Avenue Theatre, Grey Gardens (book by Doug Wright, music by Scott Frankel and lyrics by Michael Korie) will run from March 16 — May 26, opening March 21. Kurt Beattie will direct this production of the musical set in the East Hampton mansion of the Beale family.

Assisted Living by Katie Forgette runs from April 19-May 12, with an opening April 25. R. Hamilton Wright directs this world premiere comedy that dares to confront the issue of aging in America.

Jon Robin Baitz’s Pulitzer finalist Other Desert Cities, directed by Victor Pappas, runs May 31- June 30, with a press opening June 6. Gina Gionfriddo’s Rapture, Blister, Burn, directed by Anita Montgomery, runs July 12-August 11, opening July 18. In addition, Will Eno’s Middletown, directed by John Langs, runs August 23 — September 22, opening August 29.

As previously reported, Sir Alan Ayckbourn will direct the American premiere of his 2003 “comedy of dark intentions”, Sugar Daddies. The production will run October 4-November 3, opening October 10. The play is about a naïve young student who rescues an old man dressed as Father Christmas from a hit- and-run driver and brings him back to the London flat she shares with her sister. As he showers her with gifts in a manner beyond polite gratitude and she accepts them in a way that begins to alter her personality, they embark on a dangerously Faustian game of mutual fantasy.
