Alliance Theatre Dominates Atlanta's Suzi Bass Awards

The Alliance's production of Tarell Alvin McCraney's In the Red and Brown Water not only won for Outstanding Play, but also for director Tina Landau, ensemble - play, and Scott Zielinski's lighting design. The Alliance's production of Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris won for Outstanding Musical, as well as director Susan V. Booth, lead actor Craig A. Meyer, ensemble - musical, and musical director Michael Fauss.
The company's production of the musical The Women of Brewster Place won for featured actress Marva Hicks, while its staging of Sophisticated Ladies won for choreographers Byron Easley and Kent Gash. In addition, Alliance's co-production of Eurydice with GA Shakespeare received awards for featured actor Andrew Benator and scenic designer Kat Conley.
Among the other awards given out at the ceremony was the Gene-Gabriel Moore Playwriting award to Pearl Cleage for A Song for Coretta.
