Stephen Schwartz to Receive Junior Theater Festival Award

Composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz will receive the inaugural Junior Theater Festival Award, honoring Advancement of Musical Theater for Young People. The festival, produced by iTheatrics and Atlanta’s Theater of the Stars, will run at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, January 15-17.

The Junior Theater Festival will bring together more than 1,500 students, teachers, and Broadway professionals, including Seth Rudetsky, who will lead a master class for festival attendees, and serve as music director for the Junior Theater Festival All-Stars in a musical number for the award ceremonies.

Schwartz is currently represented on Broadway by the musical Wicked, for which he received a Tony nomination for best score. He was also Tony nominated for his lyrics to Rags, his book and score for Working, and his scores to Godspell and Pippin.
