Synopsis

The Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening will launch a multi-city national tour beginning at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco on September 4.

Based on the 1891 Frank Wedekind play, and set against the backdrop of a repressive and provincial late 19th century Germany, Spring Awakening tells the timeless story of teenage self-discovery and budding sexuality as seen through the eyes of three teenagers.

The winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Spring Awakening features music by Duncan Sheik, book and lyrics by Steven Sater, direction by Michael Mayer, and choreography by Bill T. Jones.
