WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Federico Garcia Lorca (friend and contemporary of Pablo Neruda and Salvador Dali) is one of Spain's most treasured playwrights. His most famous plays are known as the "earth trilogy" or "rural trilogy", Bodas de Sangre (1933, Blood Wedding), Yerma (1934) and Le Casa de Bernarda Alba (1936, The House of Bernarda Alba).

Blood Wedding is a story of true love turned tragic because of traditional, oppressive social structures and family rivalry. It is a highly moving and beautifully written work.
July 18 and 26.

Yerma tells the tale of a virtuous, worthy woman oppressed by traditional society. It explores the subjects of marriage, childbearing, and suffering under a classical social system.
July 19 and August 1.

The House of Bernarda Alba is a play about brutal repression, sexual jealousy, maternal control and finally death, in which a tyrant widow locks her daughters away from the outside world.
July 25 and August 2.
