TheatreWorks, the nationally acclaimed theater of Silicon Valley, will present the sensational world premiere musical, Daddy Long Legs, based on the beloved novel by Jean Webster. In the must-see event of the season, John Caird, the Tony Award-winning director of the international blockbuster Les Miserables is joining forces with Paul Gordon, the composer of TheatreWorks' triumphant hit Emma to create a glorious new musical romance. Set in the turn-of-the-century New England, Daddy Long Legs is the story of Jerusha Abbott, a talented orphan sent to a prestigious college by an anonymous benefactor. With the stipulation that she write him monthly letters, and having only seen a glimpse of his elongated shadow on a wall, she whimsically dubs him "Daddy Long Legs." Revealed through her witty wistful letters, her journey to independence, education, and romance chronicles the emergence of a delightfully independent American woman. The internationally acclaimed John Caird will helm Daddy Long Legs, with set and costumes by Olivier Award-winning designer David Farley. Co-world premiere with Rubicon Theatre Company and Cincinnati Playhouse.
