Synopsis

Incorporating sensuous choreography, contemporary scenic elements, bold music and a comedic tale of romance and magic, this production moves to a pulsating urban beat that resonates for a hip, young audience. Director Tim Supple's South Asian production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream combines the skills of actors, dancers, martial arts experts, musicians, and street acrobats from across India and Sri Lanka.

A multi-cultural troupe of 23 performers from a hugely diverse range of locations and backgrounds came together for a seven week rehearsal process to create a production which is performed in English, and incorporates Tamil, Malayalam, Sinhalese, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi and even a little Sanskrit.

Review: Worst Shakespeare Ever! by tiocfaidh

The worst production of Shakespeare ever. To use a foreign language in well over half of a production of Shakespeare is insulting. The blocking was poor, the actors spoke their lines to each other or to the back of the stage, the actresses hair was constantly in their faces, the men were sloppy, and the cast seemed to have been cast more on their ethnicity then their actual ability to act. Bad Indian TV soap

Review: Dream, indeed by candace_eleal

Loved it. Challenging, but overall the ensemble, set, and music were great, and the passion and comedy came through clear and compellingly in all 8 languages.
