Berkeley Repertory Theatre will kick off its 2008-2009 Season with the world premiere of Itamar Moses' new play, Yellowjackets, August 29-October 12 at Berkeley Rep's Thrust Stage. Tony Taccone will direct.

The play is a collision of race and class when the school newspaper publishes an insensitive story, and even their teachers seem unprepared to deal with the repercussions.

The cast will include Shoresh Alaudini, Jahmela Biggs, Alex Curtis, Ben Freeman, Lance Gardner, Amaya Alonso Hallifax, Kevin Hsieh, Adrienne Papp, Craig Piaget, Brian Rivera, and Erika Salazar. The creative team will include Obadiah Eaves (sound), Meg Neville (costumes), Annie Smart (sets), and Alexander V. Nichols (lights).

The upcoming Berkeley Rep season will also feature August Wilson's Joe Turner's Come and Gone, Sarah Ruhl's In the Next Room (or the vibrator play), Fyodor Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment, and The Lieutenant of Inishmore.
