The name Ovo means "egg" in Portuguese, and the production is described by the company as being "a headlong rush into a colorful ecosystem teeming with life, where insects work, eat, crawl, flutter, play, fight and look for love in a non-stop riot of energy and movement." The action of Ovo is set in motion when a mysterious egg appears in the insects' midst.
Other members of the creative team include Guy Laliberté and Gilles Ste-Croix (artistic guide), Chantal Tremblay (director of creation), Gringo Cardia (set/prop design), Liz Vandal (costume design), Berna Ceppas (composer/musical director), Éric Champoux (lighting design), and Jonathan Deans (sound design).
