Rebecca Fisher's family hails from Memphis, where old money, country clubs, and white columned mansions are insubstantial barriers against senseless violence. When drugs and murder implode Fisher's sedate world, she turns to her Southern roots for lessons in how to transform catastrophe into survival. The Magnificence of the Disaster takes emotional curves on two wheels, the tires screeching with laughter, while driving the audience into the hearts of its eccentric and deeply troubled characters. The work is unflinchingly honest and unapologetically entertaining, showcasing Fisher's gifts as a comic actress and mesmerizing storyteller.

Fisher started developing the piece in January 2004 with David Ford and continued to hone it as a member of The Marsh Performance Initiative. She performed an early version of the work at the 2005 San Francisco Fringe Festival, then presented the piece in it's entirety to sold-out audiences and great acclaim in The Marsh's Festival of New Voices last May. Regionally, Fisher has performed with New Conservatory Theatre, Three Wise Monkeys, and Shotgun Players.
