WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Fedya, Liza, and Victor have been friends since childhood. Liza and Victor are in love. Which is kind of a problem because Liza is married to Fedya. Fedya has always known of Liza and Viktor's love, and it torments him. Even Liza's mother knows of their love, and she wants Liza to be with Viktor. And there's also Fedya and Liza's newborn baby to consider. Distraught, Fedya decides to kill himself, but unfortunately he doesn't have the nerve to follow through. Eventually he runs away and makes his home with Gypsies where he falls in love with Masha. And that's when his problems truly begin. There's a trial, more parental disapproval, and even a fake drowning, Sound like an episode of Desperate Russian Housewives? It's Leo Tolstoy's The Living Corpse, and the Shelton Theater has engaged European directing wunderkind Oleg Liptsin to stage his masterpiece.
