The story of The Drawer Boy is set in 1972 on the fields of Ontario, Canada and follows young Miles, an actor eager to do research for the new experimental theatre project he and fellow actors are working on. The research requires a firsthand experience of farm life with local farmers. To accomplish this, Miles moves in with bachelor farmers Angus and Morgan, two lifelong friends - now in their 50's - who had served together in World War II before returning to Canada to become farmers. Miles single-mindedly rushes to put a private part of their life on stage but in his eagerness to learn all he can about his hosts, he unwittingly stumbles upon a secret lie that has passed for truth since the way - a lie that will soon turn everyone's world upside-down.
