WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Black Box Theatre Company presents The Creature, a digital adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein being recorded live before a studio audience on October 30 with its Podcast World Premiere scheduled for Halloween, October 31. "There are two sides to every tale," says Creature creator Trevor Allen (also the founder of Black Box Theatre Company), "This is the creature's story." Kent Nicholson, who directs the new adaptation, thinks that "by telling the story from the creature's point of view, [Black Box] not only explore[s] the ethical and scientific issues in the original story, but also [creates] a story about alienation and the effect of being outcast as an 'other' in society."

Local acting treasure James Carpenter portrays the title character, with Andrew Hurteau as Captain Walton and Paul Silverman as Victor Frankenstein.

The podcast of The Creature, beginning at 5:00 PM (West Coast Time) on Tuesday, October 31, is available at the Black Box website.
