WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The seventh annual San Francisco Theater Festival, a free, fun, one-day extravaganza of 120 shows on 14 stages. This unique festival, a celebration of local theater attended by more than 10,000 enthusiastic theatergoers each year, has become an important showcase for theater groups and performers, as well as one of the Bay Area's most popular one-day free summer events. The Festival program consists of short performances of 30 minutes or less at nine indoor and five outdoor stages. All types of theater are presented, including drama, comedy, one-acts, excerpts, great scenes, Commedia Dell'arte, musical theater, solo performers, improv, Shakespeare, original works, children's shows, and opera. The festival's 120 performers include: Arclight Repertory, Artis Mundi, Atmos Theatre, BATS Improv, Big City Improv, Blue Blanket, Bruce Pachtman, Crisis Hopkins, Enzo Lombard, Exit/Fringe Festival, Libby Skala, Lyric Theatre of San Jose, The Marsh, Mugwumpin, Multi-Ethnic Theater, New Conservatory Theatre, No Nude Men, Pi, PianoFight, Playground, Pocket Opera, Ray of Light, SF Free Civic Theater, SF Recovery Theatre, SF Boylesque, Stagebridge, One Act Players, Ross Valley Players, Bindlestiff Studio, Youth Speaks, and San Francisco's smash hit musical Beach Blanket Babylon!
