WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Before there was Bridget Jones, there was Heather Jones - a soap opera star, singing sensation, and divorcee pushing 40. This life and career crossroads prompts Heather to dump her Miss America image for a dynamic comeback. Backed by a live rock band, Heather brings to life her 1950s upbringing, her failed marriage, the foibles of dating, and the chauvinism of show business in this revival of the groundbreaking 1970s musical. Paired with pal Nancy Ford's catchy music for such tunes as "Miss America" and "Strong Woman Number," Cryer's powerful roar, I'm Getting My Act Together and Taking It on the Road, was first produced in 1978 by Joseph Papp for the New York Shakespeare Festival at the Public Theatre. Featuring a subsequent parade of top Broadway actresses, the musical enjoyed a long run of 1,165 performances.
