WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
A.C.T. presents the world premiere of a magical new musical conceived by ground-breaking choreographer/director Martha Clarke and one of Ireland's hottest young playwrights, Sebastian Barry. Based on the Samuel Goldwyn motion picture, Hans Christian Andersen is a journey of childhood terrors and dreams as young Hans Christian escapes from the horrors of poverty through the simple but stunning act of storytelling. This visionary new piece weaves Frank Loesser's delightful songs, written for the 1952 movie, into soaring recreations of Andersen's fairy tales. The Steadfast Tin Soldier, The Little Match Girl, and The Emperor's New Clothes are just a few of the famous tales told. John Glover stars in the title role.
