WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Born, Never Asked. is a full-length new work by choreographer Zoë Klein based on her life story being adopted as an infant from Colombia. As an ensemble of five, the performers' physicality is experienced through their powerful partner flips and lifts, lyrical floor work, multilevel suspensions, sculptural levers, and inventive inversions. Klein's cutting-edge movement genre of aerials, acrobatics, and imagery delivers a visual feast along with deep meaning and complex emotions. Klein's artistic instincts have driven her to the question many international adopted persons in a mixed-race family may ask: How can one achieve wholeness with conflicting loyalties between lands, languages, families, and cultures?

Come early to partake in an interactive gallery installation in the Dance Mission Lobby. Stay for our postshow talk backs with Adoption Museum Project.
