New Conservatory Theatre Center presents a ten-year anniversary production of Beautiful Thing: An Urban Fairytale, by Jonathan Harvey, directed by Andrew Nance.
This tender and funny love story, set in a South London housing project, tells the tale of Jamie Engel, a shy young man and Ste, his charming and handsome next door neighbor. The boys' attraction to one another is quickened by Ste's difficult home life and the well-meaning intentions of Jamie's Mum, Sandra. Her love and patience are tested as she finds out the truth about the boys' unexpected relationship. A screen adaptation of the play was released in 1996.
