Broadway veteran Anthony Heald (The Elephant Man) stars in California Shakespeare Theater's currently running production of Shakespeare's King Lear, directed by Amanda Dehnert. The production plays at the Bruns Amphitheater from September 16-October 11.

The production also features Arwen Anderson as Goneril, Kjerstine Rose Anderson as Cordelia/The Fool, El Beh as Regan, Aldo Billingslea as Kent, Dan Clegg as Edmund, Rafael Jordan as Edgar, and Charles Shaw Robinson as Gloucester. Rounding out the cast are Patrick Alparone, Craig Marker, and Sam Misner.

The creative team for King Lear includes set designer Dan Ostling, costume designer Melissa Torchia, lighting designer Christopher Akerlind, and sound designer Joshua Horvath.

"Lear is a guy who fought all his life to get where he is, and then has to deal with the fact that he’s aging and his mind is changing," says Amanda Dehnert in a statment. "He should be able to relax and enjoy his family in the time he has left, but he makes one mistake and suddenly the people around him are doing horrible things to get what they want."
