Aurora Theatre Announces Line-up for Global Age Project

The Aurora Theatre company has announced the line-up of readings for its Global Age Project (GAP), the company’s initiative to promote forward-looking theater. Each GAP reading will be followed by an audience discussion of the contemporary issues raised in each work.

Joel Drake Johnson’s The First Grade (February 2), will open the series with the story of an elementary school teacher who attempts to save her physical therapist from an abusive husband. Raelle Myrick-Hodges will direct. Wendy MacLeod’s Birnham Woods (February 9), locates scandal in a small college town in Indiana with Susannah Martin at the helm.

Dan Hoyle’s Right? (February 16), brings to the stage the characters, stories, and worldviews of small-town and rural America with Matthew Graham Smith directing. The series will close with and when we awoke there was light and light by Laura Jacqminm (February 23), the story of a high-school senior who tries to help a friend she met online come to the United States. Rob Melrose will direct.
