The adaptation features a book by Duane Poole, music by Larry Grossman, lyrics by Carol Hall, and orchestrations by Steve Orich. The show chronicles a young boy's loving friendship with an eccentric aunt in a small southern town in the 1930's. As previously reported, three-time Tony Award nominee Penny Fuller will star as Aunt Sook, with Gabriel Hoffman as Buddy.

The cast will also include Eileen Barnett (Jennie Faulk), Jennifer Chapman (Nelle Harper), Richard Farrell (Seabon/HaHa/Farley), Joshua Park (Adult Buddy), and Cathleen Riddley (Anna Stabler).
