Avenue Q National Tour to Play San Francisco in February 2011

The national tour of Avenue Q will play a San Francisco engagement at the Orpheum Theatre, February 15-27, 2011. Directed by Jason Moore, the show features music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, and a book by Jeff Whitty based on an original concept by Lopez and Marx.

Using a cast of people and puppets, Avenue Q tells the story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college grad who moves to NYC with big dreams and a tiny bank account. The only apartment he can afford is way out on Avenue Q, where everyone’s looking for the same things he is: a decent job, a stable relationship, and a “purpose.”

The creative team includes Rick Lyon (puppet design), Stephen Oremus (musical supervision), Ken Roberson (choreography), Anna Louizos (scenic design), Mirena Rada (costume design), Howell Binkley (lighting design), and Jon Weston (sound design).

The show’s Broadway run won Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Book of a Musical.
