Berkeley Repertory Theatre has announced casting for Lemony Snicket’s The Composer is Dead, to play the Roda Theatre November 26-January 15, with an opening on December 2. The show features text by bestselling author Lemony Snicket (a.k.a. Daniel Handler) and a score by Nathaniel Stookey. It was conceived for the stage by Lemony Snicket, Phantom Limb, Tony Taccone, and Geoff Hoyle.

The piece will involve classic clowning and plenty of uppity puppets. The presentation will also include an interactive film entitled The Magic of Living and Breathing Theatre, written by Lemony Snicket.

Hoyle will perform alongside puppeteers Jenny Campbell, Frankie Cordero, Marta Mozelle, Edouard Sanko, and Ronny Wasserstrom. The production will feature set design, costume design, and puppetry by Jessica Grindstaff and Erik Sanko (the co-artistic directors of Phantom Limb), lighting and projection design by Alexander V. Nichols, and sound design by James LeBrecht.
