Washington and Freeman to Reprise Roles in Thick Description's America Play

By San Francisco
As part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, Thick Description will revive its 1994 hit, The America Play, by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks, to play The Thick House, November 21-December 14. The production will reunite director Tony Kelly and actors Rhonnie Washington and Brian Freeman, who all worked on the 1994 run.

Through the character of the Foundling Father (played by Washington) -- a black man, a gravedigger, and a look-alike for Abraham Lincoln -- and the family searching for him, The America Play explores the American dream of greatness, and the impulse - creative, and destructive - to find one's place in the Great Hole of History. Freeman recreates his role as Brazil.

The cast will also include Cathleen Riddley, David Westley Skillman, and Deirdre Draginoff. The creative team will include Rick Martin (set) and Keiko Shimosato (costumes).
