Boxcar Theatre Announces 2009-2010 Season

Boxcar Theatre has announced its 2009-2010 season, which will open with a transgender rendition of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, Nick A. Olivero’s Romeo & Julien, September 9-October 3, with Peter Matthews and Wolfgang Lancelot Wachalovsky at the helm.

Next up is Meet the Samsas, October 8-24, inspired by Franz Kafka’s Metamorphosis with direction by Sarah Beth Parks. Tina Howe’s Museum will follow, November 2-22, with Stephanie Renée Maysonave directing; and I SF, December 3-19, created by the Boxcar Players and directed by Olivero.

Other highlights of the season include The Mark Ten’s Fantastic Parade, January 12-30, written by Maria Breaux and directed by Katja Rivera; Project V, February 3-14, inspired by Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues; Sophocles’ Antigone, March 25-April 17, featuring Pi: The Physical Comedy Troupe with Mike Ryan directing; and Rhino, May 6-29, an adaptation of Eugène Ionesco’s Rhinoceros with Evren Odcikin at the helm. Rounding out the season are three Tennessee Williams dramas performed in repertory, July 27-August 28, including A Cat on a Hot Tin Roof; A Streetcar Named Desire, directed by Wolfgang Wachalovsky; and The Glass Menagerie, directed by Jessica Holt.
