Michelle Krusiec and Alex Moggridge to Lead Berkeley Rep Production of Chinglish

Casting has been announced for the West Coast premiere of David Henry Hwang’s Chinglish, to run August 24-October 7 at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre’s Roda Theatre. The production is directed by Leigh Silverman, who helmed the Chicago and Broadway stagings of the comedy.

Chinglish will star Alex Moggridge as Daniel, an American businessman struggling to launch a new business venture in China, and ends up falling for Xi Yian (Michelle Krusiec), a sexy government bureaucrat. The rest of the cast includes Vivian Chiu, Celeste Den, Austin Ku, Brian Nishii, and Larry Lei Zhang.

The production will reunite the Broadway design team of David Korins (scenic design), Anita Yavich (costume design), Brian MacDevitt (lighting design), Darron L. West (sound design), and Jeff Sugg and Shawn Duan (projection design).
