Theodore Bikel, Paula Poundstone, Capitol Steps, et al. Set for Friend Center for the Arts

The Friend Center for the Arts at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco (JCCSF) has announced the details of their 2009-2010 performing arts season.

Word for Word will present a special staged reading of The Tumblers (October 14), from Nathan Englander’s collection, For the Relief of Unbearable Urges. The Jewish Theatre will stage The Sisters Rosensweig by Wendy Wasserstein, January 9-17, a comedy about the reunion of three Jewish-American sisters and their transformative joys and struggles. Aaron Davidman will direct. Theodore Bikel will star in Sholom Aleichem: Laughter Through Tears, February 6-7, a show full of colorful characters in the life and literary works of a great storyteller.

Paula Poundstone will bring her stand up talents to An Evening With Paula Poundstone, December 5; The Capitol Steps will sing their musical political satire, March 14; The Trey McIntyre Project will present The Sun Road, October 30, a multimedia dance piece; and World Arts West and First Voice present Return of the Sun, December 5, a dance story drama telling the Japanese legend of Amaterasu, the Sun Goddess.
