Berkeley Repertory Theatre has announced three additions to its 2011-2012 season.

Britain’s celebrated Kneehigh Theatre Company will present the American premiere of The Wild Bride, adapted and directed by Emma Rice (Roda Theatre, December 2- January 1). This grown-up fairy tale follows a girl’s journey through a visual wonderland.

Mikhail Baryshnikov and Anna Sinyakina will perform In Paris (Roda Theatre, April 25 – May 13), a 1930s-set romance based on a story by Nobel Prize-winner Ivan Bunin, and directed by Dmitry Krymov. It will be presented in French and Russian with English supertitles.

Black n Blue Boys (Thrust Stage, May 25-June 24), a world premiere written and performed by Pulitzer Prize-finalist Dael Orlandersmith will be staged by Obie Award-winner Chay Yew. Co-commissioned and co-produced by Berkeley Rep and Goodman Theatre, the piece introduces us to children and adults forging identities in families fractured by alcohol, drugs, and abuse.

As previously reported, the season will also include Rita Moreno: Life Without Makeup (September 2 – October 30) and A Doctor in Spite of Himself (February 10 – March 25) in the Roda Theatre, as well as How to Write a New Book for the Bible (October 7- November 20), Ghost Light (January 6 – February 19), and Red (March 16 – April 29) on the Thrust Stage.
