J. Michael Flynn, Linda Park, et al. Set for San Jose Repertory’s Love in American Times

San Jose Repertory Theatre has announced casting for its world premiere of Love in American Times by Philip Kan Gotanda. Rick Lombardo will direct the play, which will run May 12-June 5.

In Love in American Times, wealthy businessman Jack Heller has a pre-arranged meeting with sharp and accomplished Scarlett Mori-Yang. Sparks aren’t the only things flying when these two driven individuals with intractable egos try to one-up each other on what could scarcely be called a first date.

Linda Park, who will play Scarlett Mori-Yang, is best known for her portrayal of communications officer Hoshi Sato in the television series Star Trek: Enterprise. J. Michael Flynn, who will play Jack Heller, is also a well-known stage and television actor and also worked on the Star Trek franchise. The cast will also feature Arwen Anderson (Sophie), Zarah Mahler (Lyonee/Jazz Singer), Gabriel Marin (Cheese Master/Mr. Stein/Understudy Edward), Craig Marker (Edward), Rosina Reynolds (Abby/Mrs. Green/), Vanessa Alvarez (Understudy Sophie & Female Ensemble), and Jason Kapoor (Understudy Male Ensemble).

The production team will include scenic designer Robin Roberts, costume designer Cathleen Edwards, lighting and media designer David Lee Cuthbert, and sound designer Tamara Roberts.
