Joshua Bell, Renée Fleming, Lang Lang Set for San Francisco Symphony’s 2012-2013 Season

The San Francisco Symphony, under the leadership of music director Michael Tilson Thomas, has announced its 2012-2013 season.

The season’s highlights include a performance of the complete score of Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story, and asemi-staged concert experience featuring the music of Edvard Greig and based around Henrik Ibsen’s Peer Gynt.

In addition, soprano Renée Fleming will perform works by Debussy and Henri Duparc with the Synphony, as well as in recital with mezzo-soprano Susan Graham and pianist Bradley Moore.

The symphony’s other offerings will include explorations of music by Beethoven and Stravinsky, and premieres of commissions by Samuel Carl Adams, Robin Holloway, and Jörg Widmann.


Performers this season will also include violinists Pinchas Zukerman, Joshua Bell, Julia Fischer; Arabella Steinbacher, James Ehnes, and Gil Shaham; pianists Andras Schiff Yuja Wang, Lang Lang, Yefim Bronfman, Marc-André Hamelin, Jonathan Biss,David Fray, Stephen Hough, and Khatia Buniatishvili; and singers Laura Claycomb, Erin Wall Sasha Cooke, Larissa Diadkova, Nicholas Phan, and Paul Groves.
