San Francisco Symphony to World Premiere Meredith Monk’s Realm Variations

San Francisco Symphony will present the world premiere of Meredith Monk’s Realm Variations, on March 18 in Davies Symphony Hall.

Commissioned by the San Francisco Symphony’s 2012 American Mavericks Festival, Realm Variations is divided into three distinct realms that interweave as the work progresses.

Monk’s other upcoming San Francisco performances include a collaboration with Joan La Barbara, Jessye Norman and members of the San Francisco Symphony to perform selections from John Cage’s “Song Books” (March 10 and 14).

Meredith Monk is a composer, singer, choreographer, filmmaker, and creator of new opera and musical theater works.
