The San Francisco-based American Conservatory Theater has announced three productions for its 2011-2012 season. Additional shows and exact run dates will be announced at a later date.

David Mamet’s newest play, Race will make its West Coast premiere, telling the story of three attorneys as they scramble to represent a white man accused of assaulting a black woman, eventually uncovering shocking evidence about their client — and themselves.

Also making its Bay Area premiere is Lorenzo Pisoni’s celebrated one-man show, Humor Abuse, a stage memoir that tells the story of his life growing up (often literally) in the trunk of his father, Pickle Family Circus cofounder Larry Pisoni.

The season will also include a revival of George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart’s 1930 comedy Once in a Lifetime, directed by Mark Rucker. The production will incorporate period film clips and dynamic backdrops that meld the worlds of theater and film.
